The Grasslands
Grasslands dominate the vegetation over more than 20% of Australia, and occur in all states except Tasmania. Grasslands in Australia are found by the low-nutrient soils of sand plains and rocky low mountain ranges in the arid inland, but also occur on rocky outcrops along the coasts. They are spread all over the country! |
While leaving the rainforest, you must drive your jeep through one of these grassland areas. It is a much different environment from the rainforest! As you look around you you see diverse plant life; including short trees and bushes. Rainfall greatly effects the plants and grasses of the grassland. The grasslands of Australia receive significant rainfall, but it usually only rains once a season.
